Geminius

Geminius

image Geminius is an ancient supernova that formed shortly after the Great Destruction, and is a major source of light for the five planets of the Xilon System. It is composed of the remnants of an exploded star which, over time, formed their own self-contained gravitational field and eventually fell into orbit around Terra Firma.

The core of the field emits a blinding white light, with blue, purple and magenta beams radiating out from the surrounding clouds deep into space, never fading or burning out. When planets cross paths with the event, the view is simply stunning, even on the Jovian worlds where thick, gaseous skies rarely allow any glimpse of the stars beyond. Geminius so hot that, in such close proximity, it burns a temporary clearing in the atmosphere, allowing for beautiful views of space. For this reason, local communities tend to have large gatherings when the supernova passes overhead, treating it as a seasonal celebration.

Geminius was originally a colorful star called The Jeborak Sun, which resided on the edge of the Isop Ring. During the Great Destruction, it caught the final blast of the massive chain reaction, causing a premature collapse of the star's core. The remaining fragments were caught up in a powerful shock wave and hurtled through space, finally coming to rest near the center of the Sphere interior, in what would later become Chrysalian galaxy.
