Technology

image The Xilon strive to coexist not only with each other but also with the animal and plant life of their worlds, primarily confining themselves to small towns and villages or adapting larger cities to their surroundings rather than modifying the land. They look down on expansion and the excessive spread of technology into surrounding environments, even though they are capable of building the most complex structures. The more advanced, intrusive technology is generally restricted to the learning centers and Watchmen ranks, or for travel purposes.

Many common Xilon gadgets and accessories are natural rather than externally built. For example, araitaks are imperative to daily life. They are crystallic stones that function like a telepathic cell phone, binding themselves to one individual and then reaching out across space and time to connect with a friend or family member, using keshthrae to communicate. The crystal uses the individual's intense energy levels to channel a telepathic jump, so that they can remain static while projecting their thoughts to anyone, anywhere, even without knowing where that person is.

One of the most important examples of Xilon technology is the khejzmyn, or universal looking glass, a crystallic sphere that enables the user to view any specific individual or event or to self-project to other similar devices throughout time and space, allowing for transdimensional communication.

image From the Age of Enlightenment through the Cosmic Epoch, cithrids, Xilonoid robots imbued with artificial intelligence and controlled by a central mind monitored by the Acadian Council, were employed to aid the Watchmen and explorers on their more dangerous and demanding journeys.

Common Aeradian weaponry, even amongst the most rural civilians, is highly advanced, with seemingly simple tools like bows and arrows guided by tracking technology and powered by nuclear energy, or knives and lances employing the use of forcefields and laser emissions. Beaming sites across the central worlds offer instant transportation of bulk goods or personal items from one location to another without the sender having to take it him or herself, and the science and learning centers, to say nothing of the Watchmen headquarers, are packed floor-to-ceiling with advanced computers, virtual reality stations, research and production machines, holographic displays and a vast array of incredible learning tools, for both academic advancement and physical training.

While the species' ability to fly and move through space instantly makes vehicles for personal travel superfluous, the Xilon do possess ships for a variety of uses. The Universal Watchmen have a fleet of starcrafts composed of war vessels with heavy weaponry, massive civilian ships for the evacuation or general transport of other life forms, space stations for advanced education of higher alien cultures and cargo ships for the transportation of supplies to and from other worlds across the stars. Most science institutions have a private collection of starships for research and organized exploration purposes, and many civilians have small hovercrafts or spaceships for the transportation of goods or non-Aeradian visitors between the Xilon planets.
